Sara Zandomeneghi, PhD, Springer Nature, UK
Sara is the Editor of BMC Bioinformatics, BMC Biomedical Engineering and BMC Digital Health and is based in the London office. She joined the BMC Series in November 2022 after her PhD in Life Science, more specifically in Structural Biology and Biophysics, at the University of Nottingham. Sara’s research focused on the characterisation of S. aureus accessory gene regulator system and on the complementation of biophysical data analysis, homology modelling and molecular dynamics simulations. She holds a BSc in Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine, also from the University of Nottingham.

António Veloso, PhD, University of Lisbon, Portugal
António Veloso is Full Professor at the University of Lisbon since 2010. He is Director of the Biomechanics and Functional Morphology Laboratory and Director of the PhD Program in Kinesiology at the Faculty of Human Kinetics since 2011. He has served as Vice Dean at the Faculty of Human Kinetics, University of Lisbon, between 2005-2009 and as Head of Sports and Health Department at the same institution from 2012 till 2016.
António served as President for the Portuguese Society of Biomechanics between 2005-2009, as member of the Board of Directors for the International Society of Biomechanics in Sports for three terms between 2005-2011 and more recently he served for 6 years as member of the Executive Council of the International Society of Biomechanics, where he was responsible for the programs for the ISB affiliated societies, the ISB technical groups and also the ISB EDC country support programs. António has published more than 200 papers in peer reviewed academic journals and in congress proceedings. His research interests include the biomechanics of human movement, where he focuses on the development of experimental methodologies, including the modelling and simulation of mechanical loads on the musculoskeletal system. He is one of the founding Editors for BMC Biomedical Engineering, where he serves as Section Editor since 2018.

Zhi Yang, University of Minnesota, USA
Zhi Yang is an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Minnesota since 2015. From 2010 to 2015, he was an Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Ophthalmology at the National University of Singapore. He received his PhD training (integrated bioelectronics & mathematical modeling) from Professor Wentai Liu and graduated in 2010. He has authored more than 70 journal and conference papers and holds 3 patents.
His research interests are in the areas of neural interfaces and neural signal processing, such as closed-loop neural modulation, large-scale recording and stimulation, autonomic recording and stimulation, and ultra-miniaturized bioelectronics. He is a passionate scientist and likes to see the bioelectronics in real clinical use. He works with like-minded students and collaborators.
He is one of the founding Editors for BMC Biomedical Engineering, where he serves as Section Editor since 2018.

Dimitrios Zeugolis, NUI Galway, Ireland
Dr. Dimitrios Zeugolis is a Lecturer in Biomedical Engineering (Biomaterials) at NUI Galway. He has a PhD from the University of Northampton and was a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the National University of Singapore. In 2007, he joined NUI Galway as a Government of Ireland Research Fellow. Since 2013, he is visiting Professor at TEI of Epirus, Greece.
He is Director of the Regenerative, Modular & Developmental Engineering Laboratory (REMODEL) and is a Principal Investigator at the Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) Centre for Research in Medical Devices (CÚRAM) at NUI Galway. He is President of Matrix Biology Ireland (MBI) society and member of various committees, councils and review boards. Dimitrios has authored >80 peer-reviewed articles, >400 peer-reviewed conference publications, 1 peer-reviewed book and 15 peer-reviewed book chapters and 2 patents.
He is one of the founding Editors for BMC Biomedical Engineering, where he serves as Section Editor since 2018.
